Health, Sex, Life and…decidedly hands and feet

Standard

You live, you learn. Today we’ll try and figure out how come when you hit your funny bone, your shoulder hurts. Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my first blog post, ever. Its about one of my favorite subjects. We’ll refer to it as reflexology for now, but its more of an abstract.

Imagine your body, from the ground up, is a road. You start at the toes, move up your feet and your legs, your midsection, and end at your head. There are little pathways that lead up and down this road. There are branches and inlets, and small back-roads for things to pass around. That’s how your blood, your pain, your nerves, your senses and everything that makes you, you, travels through your body.

If you have a soul, it’s somewhere in these small branching pathways.

In reflexology we believe that these roads exists, and that each interaction along that road has something to do with the next couple of stops. Really its simple and provable with physics. If I cut my leg off, the subsequent spots in the circulatory system aren’t gonna be getting a whole lot of blood. The real debate is when it comes to the central nervous system. Science is still split.

Reflexology gets its name from the age old test. You tap your knee and your foot jumps. The science just extrapolates on that a bit. If you step on a nail, your shoulder twinges. If you wear uncomfortable shoes, you get back pain, if you wear a tight hat, your knee hurts. On and on.

Reflexology is becoming more and more involved. Sports medicine is using it to address things like cramps, through compression hose. Olympic athletes now come standard with custom orthotics in all their shoes. The government pays for custom diabetic insoles for every diabetic patient.

We exercise and we eat right, but do we really take care of these vital parts of our body. Ask yourself, do your feet hurt a lot, do you have arch pain in the mornings? Do you cross your legs? Do you wear hats all the time? Do you partake in the occasional massage or hot tube dip? Do you swim?

You have to look at these things individually and realize that everything that happens to you happens to all of you.  No part of your body is separate from another part. Let life flow through you and make sure that you aren’t neglecting any one aspect of yourself. Everything about you is special. Love it all! Especially your feet! They are sometimes the only part of you that makes contact outside yourself. Can you imagine standing on your hands all day?
